6:00 AM - 11:00 PM daily. First trains around 6:00 AM, last trains around 11:00 PM.

Β₯2-Β₯6 per trip (distance-based). Children under 1.3m travel free with paying adult.
Transit Card
Suzhou TONG Card (Β₯20 refundable deposit). Also accepts Alipay/WeChat Pay QR.

Travel Tips for Foreigners
Avoid Rush Hour
Rush hours are 7:00-9:00 AM and 5:00-7:00 PM. Trains can be crowded, especially Line 1 and 2.

Get a Suzhou TONG Card for seamless travel. Also works in Shanghai (except Line 11).

Know Your Exit
Station platforms mark where each exit is. Check the map to find the best exit for your destination.
- Line 11 connects Suzhou to Shanghai Metro - perfect for day trips to Shanghai!
- Tongli Water Town (Line 4) is a must-visit UNESCO site, less crowded than Zhouzhuang
- Suzhou Railway Station (Line 2/4) has excellent signage in English
- If you're coming from Shanghai, take the high-speed train (25 min) then use metro
How to Buy Tickets
Option 1: Single Journey Ticket
Purchase at ticket vending machines (available in English) or staffed counters at any station. Cash and mobile payments accepted.
Option 2: Rechargeable Card (Recommended)
Buy a Suzhou TONG Card at any station for a refundable deposit (Β₯20). Top up at machines or counters. Offers convenience and avoids ticket queues.
Option 3: Mobile Payment
Use Alipay or WeChat Pay QR codes to enter and exit stations. Look for the QR code scanner at gates. Also accepts Shanghai Metro QR code.
Option 4: Contactless Bank Card
Some stations accept Visa/Mastercard contactless cards or Apple Pay/Google Pay at designated gates.

Did you know? Suzhou Metro Line 11 connects directly to Shanghai Metro Line 11 at Huaqiao Station. This means you can travel seamlessly between Suzhou and Shanghai by metro!

Take Line 11 to Huaqiao, transfer to Shanghai Line 11. Total journey: ~2 hours to People's Square.
