Hi! I'm Kenny, the founder of LocalCN Trip. I was born in 1986 in Inner Mongolia, a beautiful region in northern China known for its vast grasslands and rich nomadic culture. I moved to Beijing in 2004 to attend university, and I've been living and working here ever since.
Today, I'm an IT Manager at a state-owned pharmaceutical manufacturing company in Beijing, where I'm responsible for information technology and digital transformation.
Why I Created This Website
Travel has always been my greatest passion. Over the past 20 years, I've traveled extensively across China, from the snow-capped mountains of Tibet to the tropical beaches of Hainan, from the ancient cities of Xi'an and Luoyang to the modern metropolises of Shanghai and Shenzhen.
During my travels, I noticed a huge problem: most English-language travel guides about China are either outdated, inaccurate, or written by people who have only spent a few weeks in the country. They all recommend the same touristy spots, the same overpriced restaurants, and they completely miss the hidden gems that only locals know about.
As someone who speaks both Chinese and English fluently, and who has deep knowledge of Chinese culture and society, I realized I was in a unique position to help foreign travelers. I wanted to create a website that would share the same tips and recommendations that I give to my foreign friends when they visit China.
What Makes Us Different
Unlike other travel websites, all of our content is written from a local's perspective. We don't just copy information from other guidebooks — we actually visit the places we write about, we eat at the restaurants we recommend, and we test the experiences we describe.
We also draw inspiration from Xiaohongshu (Little Red Book), China's most popular social media platform for travel and lifestyle. Every day, millions of Chinese travelers share their real experiences, honest reviews, and hidden gems on Xiaohongshu. We carefully curate the best and most popular content from Xiaohongshu, adapt it for foreign travelers, and add all the practical information that foreign visitors need.
